WE ALL NEED TO HELP EACH OTHER OUT

i must share this experience....
okay, i'm a newie Costco shopper.
this newie Costco shopper didn't know that the snack bar only takes cash or check.
i go to the snack bar to order a "cheap" dinner for my family.
we all got drinks this time! we didn't have to share!
everyone was hungry and excited, so Craig takes all the food before I even pay.
the Costco dude puts the cups for our drinks on the counter and tells me $8.80.
i hand him my debit card.
"sorry mam, we only take cash or check."
"Oh crap! I don't have either!"
the dude just looks at me. (how uncomfortable is that!)
i'm standing there trying to figure out what I'm gonna do.
a lady comes up next to me and attempts to hand the Costco dude $10.
the Costco dude says, "Sorry mam. I'm still helping her. You'll have to wait."
the nice lady in the white shirt says, "I know. I want to pay for it"
I turn around to see her smiling face, and I'm still pretty darn embarrassed.
"Oh my gosh. No!"
the nice lady in the white shirt says, "It happens. We all need help some times."
"Oh my gosh. Thank you so much! Can I hug you?"
We hug.
She orders her one slice of cheese pizza and pays for my bill.
I said thank you a million times.
I go to our family to tell them the story.
They also thank her.
She says, "We all need to help each other out."
I'm fighting the tears at the thought of her sweet heart.
I then see her and her teenage daughter walk out of Costco with 1 slice of cheese pizza.
Ahhh. Did she mean to by two slices of pizza, but could only by one because she had a 10 dollar bill and our bill was $8.80!
I hope not.
I will never forget this night and this lady.
I know good, sweet, and generous people still exist.
It was a humbling experience to accept such a generous offer from a stranger.
I'll never forget her words..."We all need to help each other out."
thank you Heavenly Father

IT'S FAMILY NIGHT

Teia gave us a weekend full of STRESS & LAUGHS. Thank goodness for the laughs...we'll stick to that one!
Friday night we went to the UVU vs USC women's volleyball game. It was a nice break from a week long of work and house hunting.
We piled in the truck with Kimani crying. I won't mention why he was in trouble and why he was crying, but I will mention he was crying like a two year old.

Anyways...we're driving to our volleyball game with Kimani crying away and out of no where Teia pipes up her voice and says, "Kimani. You can smile. It's family night." No restraint....I BUSTED UP LAUGHING SO BAD!!! It was at Kimani's expense...but I told him....he had to admit....that was SUPER FUNNY!!!

Kimani just cried louder as Craig and I lost control of our laughter.

Sounds awful of us. But if you heard that girl with all her personality!

Ki did eventually get over it and we have a great memory of that night.

Moving on to the next one....
So we're at the volleyball game, and Teia had to go "shi shi." Daddy decided he would take her this time because he had to go too. So off they go...daddy and daughter to make "shi shi." Upon their return Craig shares what Teia had to say.
"Daddy. How come you always don't wipe?"
CRACK ME UP!
He never did share his explanation.
I'll have to find that one out today.

HOUSE GONE WRONG

First of all, sorry for lack of pics. STILL DIDN'T GET A NEW CAMERA. It drives me crazy.
I like to have Saturday morning jam sessions.
I pump up the radio and get my body jamming.
Kimani used to be my partner.
Not this Saturday.
My honey was my partner.
We were jammin'!
Kimani comes along and says,
"Call the police! HOUSE GONE WRONG!"
Apparently he's too old and too cool to jam with his mom, and it's NOT COOL to see his parents getting jiggy with it!

SOME KIND OF LUCK

Have you ever had the worst luck with a certain bill? Let me tell you about my luck! My credit report showed that I had a medical bill that went to collections! OH WONDERFUL!! How can that be? Well....apparently my doctor sent some lab work off to the hosptial. The hospital billed me for that lab work. The bill was returned by the postoffice several times. The post office kept saying undeliverable. So IHC started calling me via a RECORDED MESSAGE which for the past several months I thought was a TELEMARKETING CALL!!! So I avoided the call OVER AND OVER! Okay. Call the hospital collections office and the girl tells me the bill kept coming back. I tell her the address is CORRECT, so I don't know why it didn't get to me. I tell her okay, why wasn't my insurance billed? She tells me that they have INSUFFICIENT insurance informtion! What??? The doctor and the hosptial use the VERY SAME INFO because they're both IHC and get the same info in the computer. Okay, so bill them now! They can't because it's over a year old from filing and already in collections so the insurance WILL NOT COVER IT! Okay severe headache! U know what....I JUST WANT THIS DONE WITH.....I'LL PAY FOR IT!!!!

Crappy postoffice! Okay and who uses recordings for IMPORTANT business! And tell me why can the doctors office bill my insurance just fine and dandy and the hospital right next door with ACCESS to the very SAME INFO on me can't bill my insurance!!! For those who don't know...any IHC facility can access all my info in a minute!!! CRAZY!!! All the luck for one stinky bill! Thank goodness it was only $271!!

HONEY LET'S GET MARRIED AGAIN!!

If only Craig and I thought of this when we got married! I SO WOULD'VE DONE IT THIS WAY!!! I LOVE THIS WEDDING ENTRANCE! I can only imagine what a blast their reception was! Makes me wanna say, "Honey let's get married again!"

SNIFFLE, SNIFFLE, SNIFF

We had to say goodbye to Sarah, Wes, & baby West today=( They're headed to Ohio (home for Sarah). Wes will be going to graduate school & Sarah will be nesting until November...baby West's expected arrival=) It's so hard to say goodbye to these guys...we really love them. They've been with us through the good, the bad, the ugly (our dirty apt), and the BESTEST of times! Let's just say ...that I know more about their bathroom habits then anyone elses other than my own family! I'm so grateful for their friendship and love. I'm not sure what we're going to do without them....no one to ....knock, knock, knock...."I know you're in there!" Teia is going to miss Aunty Sarah dearly. We wish them a safe arrival to their new place, health and strength in preparation for baby West, and lots of love to help them begin a new chapter in their lives.

P.S. No more owls!!!!!!!(inside joke)

ACCIDENT OR PURPOSE?

Teia screams a paniful cry.
Kimani screams..."I TOLD U NOT TO DO THAT, OR U WOULD GET HURT!"
Teia continues to scream in pain
Mom asks Teia as she's trying to comfort the baby girl, "Was it an accident or purpose?"
Teia crying says, "PUURPOSE!"
Mom sends Kimani to his room.
Kimani starts rambling on..."She's a liar!"
Mom comforts Tei, then aunty Mel calls.
Kimani keeps telling mom to hurry and get off the phone.
Mom goes into Kimani's room and is asked to sit down.
Kimani hands me a book with 4 pages of what REALLY happened....comic style.
Kimani ACTS out what REALLY happened.
Kimani makes the stuffed animals ACT out what REALLY happened.
Kimani ALSO takes step by step PICTURES with dad's blackberry to show me what REALLY happened.
All the while Teia is sitting in a "SPECIAL" chair as the "CRIMINAL LIAR" watching Kimani defend himself.
When all is said and done Teia starts laughing with a GUILTY, but ADORABLE face.
Mommy asks Teia, "Was that what happened?"
Teia says, "Yes." and nods her head.
Mommy asks, "Was it an accident?"
Teia responds, "PURPOSE!" ...while trying to hide her smile
Kimani hands me a page that I must SIGN my signature saying that he is telling me the truth!

CURE HIM

Will someone please cure my hubby of the "Flowrider disease" that the Kelly & Tuia Ohana gave to him! This utube video is an example of someone who has the disease.

CRAVINGS

My FAVORITE SOUP EVER!!
Portuguese Bean Soup
Since moving to Utah I've had to use smoked sausage to substitute for not having the best sausage ever PORTUGUESE SAUSAGE. Well, with my recent trip home I was able to bring back 5 Portuguese sausage...HOLD ON HAWAIIANS IN UTAH...DON'T BE BREAKING DOWN MY DOOR! THAT'S MY GOLD!
Anyways I promised Sarah & Wes I would make them my soup with the REAL sausage before they move. Well....I use Ham SHANKS instead of Ham HOCKS in my soup and it's gotta be Ham SHANKS. GOTTA! Can you tell I'm passionate about this soup. I always find my ham shanks at Maceys in Provo and the darn place no moa all week. Drive me crazy! So now I have to think about my soup and CRAVE it everyday even though I have the GOLD. The meat dept said they should have some by this weekend.
There's different variations to the recipe. I DON'T PUT macaroni and carrots in mine. However, I plan on putting carrots this next time. I WILL NOT EVER PUT MACARONI in mine....I told you I'm passionate about my soup. Something about the texture of macaroni in my bean soup just doesn't go right for me. My recipe is extremely low key on the ingredients, so you can find other recipes if you google it.
3 Ham Shanks (everyone else puts Ham Hocks)
1 Large Portuguese Sausage ( you can substitute Linguisa or just any smoked sausage, but Hawaiians would say it's just not the same)
2 cans Kidney Beans (I'm too impatient to deal with the real stuff)
2-3 medium potatoes
1 round onion
cabbage (I haven't heard of anyone else putting this in theirs...our ohana luvs it)
garlic
tomato sauce
Hawaiian salt (or regular salt)
pepper

M&M LOVE

I was very fortunate to be with my sister 4 times in the past year for very special events. She's the best big sister and she has always spoiled me. Growing up my sis always did my hair and advised me on what to wear too. Well, she still has to do that for me when I visit home. This last trip home my sis took me to her master cutter to get a new hair cut and then she took me for a pedicure. The night of my elementary school reunion she did my hair, picked out my accessories, bag, and shoes....just like when we were growing up. She's always had style...."Best Dressed" every year from 7th grade until 12 th grade and I've always been a"tom boy." Thank goodness for her...my sis taught me how to get made up like a girl the summer I met Craig! Hee hee! No Joke! My tiger shorts and flojo's got replaced with halter tops, make-up, and permed hair that very summer I met my love! Anyways, I'll treasure this past year and look forward to the next with my big sis...I LOVE YOU MEL!
