1st Day of Summer

Ki's last day of school was Friday, so yesterday was his first official day of summer fun! I was supposed to clean house and study...yah right. We started the day with phone calls from loved ones and a visit from the Kaufusi ohana. Then we headed out to the yard to play. Could anyone guess what Kimani wanted to do on the first day of summer? Yep! Head to the library! He's my book-a-holic! He's already in the middle of THREE books! Well, Provo City Library does a summer reading program every year and Kimani loves to go and get his free shirt and packet of coupons for participating. So after playing we headed to the library. Ki got his very own library card finally. Big smiles. Tei has developed a love for reading books too. She's been, for a few months now, telling us her own stories before bedtime. Following in her "bubba's" foot steps. After the library we walked home. My highlight of the day. The library is a pretty good distance away from where we live, but I love the exercise! Between the library and home we walked to Brick Oven so the kids could get something in their tummies. It was nice to have lunch with the kids and make Ki's first day of summer official with a celebratory lunch. We left the resturant with a sucker for each and a balloon for each...PINK for Tei of course. We got home and the kids watched a movie. Then off to playing outside again. Then a bubble bath together...with lots of toys. Tei kept leaving the bath to run in the room for more toys while "bubz" kept telling her "no not that one!" Craig and I just relaxed in bed watching and listening to the two of them. It was a sweet moment to realize we had a moment to relax and think of nothing (NO MORE HOMEWORK TO STRESS OVER!!), but our two kids having fun together. They ended the first day of summer in the living room with tons of pillows and blankets and a late night movie. I love summer fun! I get so excited for Ki each summer. Let's see how long the two kiddos get along. All summer together??
